Hi Martha...I have learned a lot from talking with you and visiting your farm. Thanks for taking the time. I enjoy your farm so much. BTW..My daughter isn't sure if she wants to name her bunny Lilly or Butterscotch.....depends on if it's a boy or girl.

Hi Judy!

Janice from Stony Knolls Farm (Home of Goat School!) here.  Hope you don't mind that Village Haven Farm asked me to reply to your email.  Your part of the USA sounds a lot like ours except we are a bit colder!  If you have a good shelter, hay works the best for bedding.  Let it build up starting in the fall.  That way it will begin to compost and the warmth of the composting from below will help keep your little darlings warm through the winter!  If you have any other questions, please visit our web site www.mainegoats.com and email me from there.

i read your magazine on goats from hobby farms and loved it. i have one old nubian goat(abigail), her boer mix baby, sadie, their new lover, romeo, my two pets nosy rosy, nubian, and her new friend sweet pea, nubian and pygmy mix. i absolutely love these little critters. they have soooooo much personality. nosy rosy was bottle raise and so was romeo, and i plan to bottle feed the upcoming spring babies. my question is.. i have provided good shelter, but a worried about upcoming cold weather. cold here in oklahoma is 12 degrees above. will they do ok with this if they have plenty of straw? thanks, judy

Good site, love to see kdis. was wondering about milk production with your breed. Email me as I raise goats and was thinking about getting a couple of milkers to go with my group here.

I loved all the pictures you have on here. I am looking to start dabbling in the farm life. I have plenty of land for it! Someday soon I would love to have some goats and chickens for the milk and the eggs. I found your site helpful with some much needed information.
